The lowdown on Rakshit Shetty-Rashmika Mandanna engagement

The countdown to one of Sandalwood's biggest dos has begun. The actor admits that the excitement in the Shetty household back home in Udupi is at an all-time high. “My parents, especially, are thrilled and my sister has specially flown down from the US with my two nephews for the occasion,” says the actor who spent all of Tuesday inviting his friends from the industry.
“Both our families have been bonding majorly, with my family having visited Rashmika’s hometown for a family lunch and last week, her family came down to Udupi for an elaborate Bunt style lunch at my home. It was also the first time that Rashmika met my sister Rashmit,” avers the actor. And while the couple is looking forward to sealing their love on D-day, Rakshit tells us that his entire family and group of friends will head to Coorg a day earlier. “That’s because we don’t get to go to Coorg often, so this will be the perfect time to relax and chill with the family. Resorts and hotels have already been booked for everyone, so the revelry will begin on July 2 itself,” concurs Rakshit. His mother Ranjana adds that the family is happy to welcome Rashmika into their fold and that they will be showering her with special gifts in true Bunt tradition on the big day.
The scene is no different in the Mandanna household. Rashmika, who is currently between the shoot of her Telugu films and an upcoming awards ceremony, laughs that she hasn’t found the time for her fittings yet. “But my mum and dad have taken over the responsibilities completely, thus saving me of any worry. They have enlisted a gourmet expert from Mangaluru for advice on the coastal fare that can be served at the engagement, alongside our local Coorg specialities. A designer layer cake has also been ordered for the ceremony. The theme is Indo-Western, so the decor will also be in accordance to it. The venue, meanwhile, has been divided into various segments, including for family, friends, VIPs and fans. Security has been put in place to ensure that the proceedings go on smoothly,” informs Suman. And to capture the golden moments for posterity, a team of six photographers, headed by renowned wedding photographer Jayaram Pillai, will come down to Coorg. “It is indeed a red letter day of our life and we are determined to leave no stone unturned to preserve those memories,” sums up Rashmika.

Rashmika will be wearing a peach gown for the ceremony and Rakshit has opted to wear an off-white tuxedo with a peach coloured tie and pocket square to co-ordinate the outfit with his lady love.
