It was a moment of pride for filmmaker

when he got to make a film that revolves around a real murder case from the 80s and its successful investigation, especially given that he hails from a family of police officers. “My grandfather and mother were part of the force and have regaled me with stories of investigations. I also dreamt of becoming an officer, but since that didn’t happen, it gives me immense joy to have made this film, which chronicles a very famous case. In the original story, the cops had found a completely disfigured body back in the 80s and then retraced steps to figure out what transpired. My film,

, made under the banner

, is a tribute to the Karnataka Police,” says Purushottam.

Beside the murder mystery, what drew Purushottam to the script of this

is that it is also about the friendship between the four leading ladies. “I make films with my friends Janaki Ram and Aravind M, so friendship is an important aspect and I was fascinated about how the ladies stuck by each other in times of trouble as well. The interesting bit is that even though the film centres around the heroines and the officer who investigates the case, there are two heroes, who actually bring about the twist in the tale,” he says.
Having made one film with an ensemble cast, the filmmaker is looking at getting the trend of multi-starrers going in Kannada cinema. “Back in the 80s and 90s, multi-starrers were big in Bollywood. I want to bring that to Sandalwood and, by doing so, take our films to a national level.
