Ondalla Eradalla, directed by
D Satya Prakash and produced by S Umapathy, had a less than stellar outing on its release weekend, owing only to technical issues. " On Friday itself we ran into technical trouble with the satellite uplink. We had uploaded our movie 10 days ago, at which point the service provider gave us an acknowledgement that content was uploaded without any glitch.
On the night of August 23, we realised that there was an issue with the upload, which they should have rectified, but didn't. The first half was playing but not the second, so a lot of audiences left theatres disappointed. We had to take up the issue with the KFCC and after much tussle, the service provider rectified the issue on Saturday evening. The problem is that for every film that releases on a Friday, reviews are generated online, which helps boost its rating on ticket-booking sites. With our technical problems, out of the 100 theatres, only 35 could play the movie. Therefore, no reviews came up and by Saturday, multiplex chains reduced the number of shows of Ondalla Eradalla," says Umapathy.
Even though the response to the film picked up by Sunday, their troubles were far from over. "Our online ticketing partner also did not correct the rating for the film, and kept us at 79% for the longest time, which we questioned, as those with barely any reviews were pegged much higher. It has now been elevated to 92%, but the damage has been done and we are looking at taking the satellite link service provider and our ticketing partner to the consumer court for losses suffered over the festive weekend," adds Umapathy.
