Swartharatna was always meant to be a romcom

Impressed with his work in First Rank Raju, actor-producer Adarsh Gunduraj approached director-writer Ashwin Kodange for his next. The two hit it off immediately, considering they had the same idea for the film — that it be a romcom. Thus began the journey of Running Horse Creations’ Swartharatna.
“Once we had established that we were both keen on it being a romcom, I started developing a script about a selfish boy who doesn’t part with anything, but falls in love with a girl and parts with his heart,” says Ashwin.“Adarsh has a unique body language, which I can only compare with Rowan Atkinson in Mr. Bean. So, a lot of the dialogues have been written keeping that in mind. We worked on enhancing these aspects at a workshop before the shoot,” the director adds.
