Sudeep's Pailwaan releases today

Cinematographer-turned-director S Krishna’s debut home production for RRR Motion Pictures, the Kichcha Sudeep-starrer has been one of the most widely-anticipated films of the year. For Krishna, the satisfaction comes from having made a film that he believed in — a sports subject with emotion and drama —which is a first for Sudeep as well. “Once Sudeep was on board, my challenge was to ensure that I deliver what I promised him. Today, Sudeep’s outing as a wrestler is one of the biggest highlights that audiences are waiting for. His character has two very distinct shades in the film and while sports is pivotal to the film, it is not the mainstay. There is a beautiful play of emotions as well,” says Krishna, adding that he has tried to make the film as big and good as possible to ensure maximum reach among audiences. With its five-language pan-Indian and global release, the film is expected to be in over 3,000 screens.

movie debut of Suniel Shetty, Sushant Singh and Aakanksha Singh. “I have cast actors based only on whether they would do justice to their characters. None of them are there for the value their names bring to the project,” says Krishna, who also got to work with a dream team as far as the crew was concerned. “Choreographers Ganesh Acharya and Raju Sundaram, Hollywood stuntman Larnell Stovall, editor Ruben, etc., they are all the best in their crafts,” he signs off.
