, Samyukta Hornad and Chikkanna, among others, the Kannada remake of the Tamil original of the same name, is said to have been chosen by Sudeep. 'When I watch a film, I don't watch it with the intention of remaking it. I just see whether I like it or don't like it. This one, I liked, and since we were looking for a film for Rahul, I thought 'Why not take up a beautiful script like this one?' The added advantage was the fact that we have a powerhouse talent like Ravi Shankar here, who can take the character he plays to an all-new level,' says Sudeep.
Yes, there have been a couple of changes in this one compared to its original, says Sudeep who adds, 'That is bound to happen when you have a different set of actors, different language, different body language and different locations where the story is set. But director Shivaganesh has ensured that the soul of the film remains intact.' The highlight of Jigarthanda, according to Sudeep, are the performances. 'Nobody overshadows the other, each individual who is part of the project has performed exceedingly well within their own boundaries,' he says. About not being onscreen in his home production, Sudeep tells us, 'First, I did not see the requirement of forcing a character in deliberately. All we wanted to do was bring a good film to the Kannada film industry. I am here for this industry and people here have been kind enough to support me in all that I have done so far. I decided to give something back ' in the form of a nice film. It is nice to be just a filmmaker, rather than dabble with acting every time. The feeling of giving presents a different high and I am enjoying this kind of responsibility. It is a great story and I am sure it will reach out to the hearts of people.'
