Some things are better than remuneration, says Deepa Sannidhi
Deepa Sannidhi has always created a buzz for her sky-high remuneration demands, but the actress now seems to have understood herself and the film industry better. “I’ve learnt that a good script, director, character and team matter more than just remuneration.”
However, considering Deepa has worked with some of Sandalwood’s top heroes, why did she agree to act opposite debutant Vivek in her next, Endendu Ninagaagi? “Vivek played his character very well, which brought out the best in me.

Though he was a little afraid, awestruck and excited about his debut, he was very comfortable when the camera was rolling. His acting inspired me to do better,” she says.
Deepa, who plays an arrogant girl in Endendu Ninagaagi, says hers was a challenging role. “I wanted to do this role ever since I saw the original — the Tamil film Engaeyum Eppothum — but I needed to do a lot of homework. I had to first understand the character’s thought process, which is a complete contrast to mine, and then master the body language.”
The actress is also happy to be a part of the Tamil remake of the Kannada film Lucia. “Though I don’t know Tamil, I’m learning the language as I don’t like being prompted when I deliver my dialogues.” Is Kollywood any different from Sandalwood? “I’m acting with Siddharth and he gives me a lot of inputs and feedback, which helps. The Tamil film industry is technically advanced and very well-organized,” says Deepa.
