He was a dubbing artiste once too, so it isn’t surprising that he accords much respect to dubbing artistes. On Thursday evening, the team of the upcoming Mani Ratnam flick Ponniyin Selvan 1 was in Bengaluru for the promotions of the film.
And while the actors spoke of their individual roles and their experience of working on the film, the evening also saw the dubbing artistes who lent their voice to these actors, being called on stage and thanked for their work.

Vikram who was vocal about his appreciation for the quality of the film’s dubbing in Kannada and how the film seemed just like an original Kannada flick, was elated when he hears that the folks who had dubbed for the movie were also at the press meet. “Please call them on to the stage. This is a first that dubbing artistes have been called and identified for their contribution to the film. I’m so happy they are here,” said Vikram. The dubbing artistes then went on to stand next to the actors they had lent their voice to and everyone was touched. “This is indeed memorable said,” Vikram.
Meanwhile, Ponniyin Selvan, a historical flick directed by Mani Ratnam, sees a stellar cast and features Vikram, Karthi, Jeyam Ravi, Trisha Krishna , Aishwarya Lekshmi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kishore and Prakash Raj amongst others.
