As the 'Manasaare' actor turns 37 today, let's take at the films that stand out in his decade and a half long career

Diganth Manchale turns 37 today. Having been around for more than a decade, he has managed to encounter the several faces of the Kannada Film Industry and in the course, worked with some of the most interesting filmmakers of his generation. Today, Diganth holds a distinctive place for himself and has proven to be a relevant actor who is very much in the thick of the action. With almost five films slated to release in 2021, Diganth is busy by all means and also looks very keen on working with new and fresh voices. So, by wishing the 'Manasaare' actor a very happy birthday, let's try and roundup his career so-far through films that stand out.

Gaalipata (2008)

Perhaps his first successful outing as one of the leads, 'Gaalipata' is quite instrumental in shaping Diganth's career. Having worked with Yogaraj Bhat and actor Ganesh previously in 'Mungaru Male', Diganth got his proper break with this film which also showed that he deserves many more opportunities. And so it happened - post 'Gaalipata', Diganth managed to carve his own niche and establish himself as a solid leading man.

Manasaare (2009)

His first big break as a leading man, 'Manasaare' marked his third collaboration with director Yogaraj Bhat. A film that dealt with mental issues and the perception of it in the eyes of society, 'Manasaare' brought forth Diganth's acting chops and proved that he is much more than just a pretty face. Alongside, it also introduced the pairing of Diganth and Aindrita Ray which, as many would already be aware, went on to be hugely popular and successful. Almost a decade later, the two actors would tie the wedding knot in their real-life too. So, 'Manasaare' is indeed a very important film in Diganth's life.

Pancharangi (2010)

At the time of 'Pancharangi's release in 2010, it seemed that director Yogaraj Bhat was not keen on looking beyond Diganth for his films' leading men. In their fourth straight collaboration, and possibly the most experimental one, 'Pancharangi' is an absurdly charming film with Diganth at the very center of it. Ably supported by Nidhi Subbaiah and Ananth Nag, the film was successful at the box-office and also carried Diganth's good streak forward.

Lifeu Ishtene (2011)

Not only did 'Lifeu Ishtene' establish Diganth as one of the main lead actors of his generation, but it also introduced Pawan Kumar as a bona fide filmmaker to the industry. Their collaboration was distinctive in terms of the tone and the newness in the approach and was thereby an important film in the actor's career. The condom scene, especially, is still recalled in good spirits by many fans of the film.

Chowka (2017)

Diganth is no stranger to films with ensemble casts but 'Chowka' stands out for other reasons. In a film consisting of different timelines and character types, Diganth managed to hold his own and prove that he is capable of portraying characters with slightly diabolical shades. 'Chowka' went on to become a big hit at the box-office and possibly changed the way Diganth was being perceived by the Kannada Cinema audience.

Katheyondu Shuruvagide (2018)

Romantic comedies are certainly up Diganth's alley but the film 'Katheyondu Shuruvagide' showed that much like himself, his character archetypes too can mature with age. In a simple, uncomplicated tale of love, romance, and aspirations, Diganth stood out for his ease with his character and also showed that he is willing to keep up with the times. The film's success can be seen as a big boost to his career as his previous many films, except for 'Chowka', had failed at the box-office.
