Sindhu Lokanath in Tamil remake
One of the most-talked about films in the Tamil film industry was Balaji Shaktivels teenager caper Vazhakku Enn 18/9. The film juxtaposed the idea of teenage love and angst in the cities in both the high-rise apartments and the underbelly of society. It has caught the fancy of Murali Meets Meera director Mahesh Rao, who will remake the film in Kannada as Case No 18/9.

I was there in Chennai when this film released. It appealed to me immediately and I loved the way the idea of teenage love has been shown. Coincidentally, it was a blessing in disguise when my friends had procured the rights to this film's remake, says Mahesh.
Ive cast Niranjan, who has been in a few films like Jolly Days, as one of the leads. Sindhu Loknath will play the role of the young maid. The other two teenagers will be newcomers, and Im also looking at new theatre artistes to play the supporting roles, says Mahesh. The director says he will add two extra songs to the film and will tweak it to suit Kannada audiences.
Interestingly, Balajis previous hit Kaadhal was also remade in Kannada. The remake Cheluvina Chittara, that was directed by S Narayan, was a sleeper hit that propelled both Ganesh and Amulya to star status.
