office recently. Unlike what one may expect, there were no starry airs whatsoever. In fact, it felt like friends meeting and chatting over coffee. What’s more, they even sang birthday wishes for Kavya, who celebrates her birthday today, in advance. When it came to talking about the film, there wasn’t even a hint of nervousness; instead, they were all excited about its release next week. This, they say, is because they are confident that they have made a good film — one that will leave everyone from the age of six to 60 entertained. They tell us more…

Tell us one reason why people should watch Siliconn City…
Kitty: The movie deals with the current crimes in the city. We have taken one act of crime and based it on that. It is about how a young man from a middle-class family gets waylaid into the world of crime and how much this disturbs his family and society at large.
Kavya: It’s an interesting subject, so nobody will get bored while watching the movie. It is not a typical love story either.
Kitty: Actors and filmmakers usually say that they have tried something different with their films. But we haven’t done anything different. Siliconn City is for people who want to watch a good movie. Although it is the remake of the Tamil film Metro, we cut out a lot of violence from the film. Also, our film is high on family sentiments and love.
Suraj: I am confident that the movie will enjoy a good run. I got goosebumps while watching the rushes. So, there is no nervousness at all.
Ekta: There are many characters in the film, but everyone has an important role to play.

Kitty, is the bearded look for this film?
No, this is for my next film, the script of which is getting ready. In this film, I play a seedha-saadha ad filmmaker.

All of you seem like very chilled-out people. Do you all hang out together?
All: Yes, we do.
Kitty: Since we shot for eight months, we celebrated everyone’s birthday together. Director Murali (Gurappa) has a nice farmhouse, where we had a lot of fun. We shot there as well and have had many get-togethers.
The whole team consists of people under the age of 40, so we all got along very well. It was a lot of fun.

Suraj, the trailer shows you doing wheelies…
Kavya and Ekta (to Suraj): That was you doing it?
Suraj: Yes. We have done a lot of stunts ourselves in the movie. I pleaded with the director to not make me wear a helmet in that scene, because then people won’t know it’s me — they will think that it’s a stuntman.

Would you like to give any disclaimers?

Suraj: Don’t try this at home; try it on the roads, not at home (laughs).
Kitty: Helmet haakoli!
Suraj: I’m kidding. Please wear a helmet.

Kitty and Suraj, you seem to share a very comfortable relationship…
Kitty: Yes. And I am impressed with the way Suraj has handled both the shades of his character in the film. He plays a soft character who transitions into something completely different. He has portrayed it wonderfully.

Suraj: I am so happy to hear this. When I was offered this film, I used to call him Kitty sir, and now, I call him Kittanna. We have become family. It’s nice to work with someone like him. One needs to learn how to explain things from Kittanna. The entire experience of shooting the film was like being on a picnic.
