Shubra Aiyappa shames miscreants after receiving obscenely morphed pictures
Actor-model Shubra Aiyappa recently returned from a lovely beach vacation, only to find a barrage of obscenely
morphed
images of herself in a bikini sent to her.Unfortunately, this is not the first time
Shubra
has been subjected to such behaviour. The previous time she came acrossobscene
morphed images of herself, she had dealt with it legally. “This time, the images were sent to me directly on chat on my social media account. If they circulate any of these morphed images in public, I will take legal action,” she says. Here’s what Shubra posted on her social media page :
“Yes, I am an actress. Yes, I am a model. Yes, I have chosen to be in the public eye. But I am not public property. I’m not sure what hurts me more. Whether it's the knowledge of my personal space being invaded upon or the realization that some people can be so heartless, and I have the misfortune of breathing the same air as them. It’s no contest really. It is unfortunate that there have been certain people who are misguided by my bikini shoot
pictures
or pictures of me holidaying to brand me as an uncultured individual and taking the liberty of objectifying me, morphing some obscene images and sharing them on social media abusing, ridiculing, threatening with the intent of tarnishing my image. I will be lying if I said it didn’t or doesn’t affect me. It does. Because I am a thinking, feeling person who understands that my job and my profession comes with its share of detriments, responsibilities and obligations but doesn’t and shouldn’t come in the way of my fundamental rights to freedom of expression and choice as a woman. I can choose to be insensitive, choose to rise above this display of cowardice and idiocy and ignore it completely knowing that tomorrow is another day and to these degenerates only means another victim. But the buck must stop somewhere. And here’s a good enough place as any. Yes, I am an actress. Yes, I am a model. Yes, I have willfully accepted that along with the adoration and fame will come a certain lack of privacy, but I am also a woman, a daughter, and a sister. I am also vulnerable and entitled to a private life. I am also just like you. A regular person with normal feelings who gets hurt and feels pain, who takes holidays and lives it up So I’m returning the favour. Like you did, I’m taking the liberty too. Except in this case it’s to give you free, although unsolicited advice. Do a real job, find a real purpose, and if you still have time on your hands, get a life. Start with photoshop lessons maybe, you’ve certainly shown some talent for it. And for all my well-wishers, I can only thank you for all your support and sharing your concern about this with me. I truly value it.”Top Comment
