Stepping out of his comfort zone is something that director
Rishab Shetty has been attempting successfully. This time, he plans to present an
anthology
of seven short stories with
Katha Sangama
. “This is a completely fresh genre for me, as not many have attempted anthologies in
Kannada
cinema. Puttana Kanagal had done this in 1970s, but after that no one did,” says Rishab.
The film features seven short stories, seven music directors, seven directors and seven directors of photography (DoPs). When asked about the challenges he faced while filming, he says, “The biggest challenge I faced was shortlisting the stories. Execution wasn’t an issue, because every team has done a fantastic job and all the technicians are really good. I just guided them. I didn’t interfere with the process of filming,” says Rishab. The film, he says, is like a bumper offer for the audiences. “Audiences will get to see seven different stories and genres in one film. We have explored different dialects from Mysuru, Mangaluru and Bengaluru in the film. One story is all about magic realism, one is a thriller and one is completely based on family emotions. Each film has been treated the way it needs to be and there is something for everyone,” says Rishab, adding that in the next few days, they plan to release a countdown teaser for the same.
The director will team up with his Bell Bottom co-star, Hariprriya, for one of the stories in the film. “I’m very excited to be a part of the story, that has no dialogues. It’s a challenging character and I’m excited to see how the audiences react to my character,” he sums up.
