Shivamani forays into Kollywood with a Gautham Menon flick
The movie will feature him in a full-fledged villain’s roleActor-director Shivamani, is slowly making his mark in the Kollywood industry with the movie Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part 2, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The movie has Simbu and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles. Shivamani, who appeared in a small role in the climax of the first part, is delighted to play a full-fledged role in the second.
Shivamani has directed over 30 films in Sandalwood. “My son is an associate of Gautham. They were looking for a fresh face to don the villain’s role. When the makers saw my photos, they thought I would be a perfect fit,” he said.
In the first part, Shivamani’s character tries to quit the underworld. “But then he returned to rule it from Dubai. He is powerful enough to control anything from there. My character, with a salt-and-pepper look will have more impact in the second part than the first. I also know Tamil, which made it easier to get into character,” he says. He adds that Gautham is one of the finest directors he has worked with. “He is clear about what he expects from each and every artiste,” says Shivamani.
Shivamani has also bagged a pivotal role in Darshan’s new film, directed by Tharun Sudhir, “I can’t divulge more, but I am happy to be part of another big project,” he adds. Shivamani, who has taken a break from directing, is working on three projects to be finalised in the next year. “Gone are the days where content was restricted to commercial elements. So I am careful about which genre I want to direct, which is why I am taking my time,” he signs off.
