Sharmiela reunites with Navagraha hero Dharma
Sharmiela Mandre hasn’t been seen around in Sandalwood for a while. In fact, she was last seen in a Kannada film a couple of years ago. While she has Goa in her kitty, she’s just signed an untitled film opposite Dharma Keerthiraj.
“This is an intense love story, which sees me reunite with Dharma, who was my romantic interest in Navagraha (2008). He was a complete newbie then and all of us used to rag him.

I was surprised to see him transformed into an actor sporting six-pack abs,” says Sharmiela.
About her role in the film, she says, “This is a story that involves just the two lead actors. Murali, my director, comes from the same school of thought that Su Ni of Simplag Ond Love Story comes from. The story, so to speak, is like a Shakespearean play, say an Othello, set in an urban setting.”
But why is it that one doesn’t see her do many roles? “I’ve never aspired to be someone who does four or five films at the same time in the hope of being in the news. When I give 45 days of my life to a film, it has to be worth it. The way young directors and newcomers are being accepted today, I think there’s going to be a difference in the perception of the industry by people,” she signs off.
