Sathyaraj's on a tight schedule

Actor Sathyaraj, who has a number of projects in his kitty, gets talking to TOI
Sathyaraj's on a tight schedule
When the bright and intelligent Rancho incurred the wrath of his college dean Viru Sahastrabuddhe in the Hindi blockbuster 3 idiots, we hated the professor to the core. And now, our very own Sathyaraj is all set to reprise the role made memorable by Boman Irani, in the much-awaited Tamil remake of the film, Nanban.
Though the actor remains tight-lipped about his role in the film, he says that a lot of changes have been made to his character and even his looks.
1x1 polls
People will find an entirely new Sathyaraj in Nanban. Shankar has taken a lot of pain to present me in a different way and I am doing my best to portray my character in a different manner, begins the veteran actor, who is now sweating it out with back-to-back schedules for almost half-a-dozen films.
The actor is currently doing Aayiram Vilakku, Vengayam, Sattapadi Kutram, Kulasekaranum Koolipadayum and Kalavaram, apart from Shankars film.
Im now eagerly awaiting the release of Aayiram Vilakku which also stars Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj. Its a very emotional saga between an old man who desires a son and a youngster who yearns for a father figure in his life, says the actor.
The actor reveals that he has wrapped up the shoot for S A Chandrashekhars Sattapadi Kutram in which he plays a pivotal role. I play a revolutionary in the film, something on the lines of Che Guevara, and the posters for the film have evoked great response. I have done around 200 films so far in my career and its only in a few films like Periyar, Amaidhi Padai and Vedam Puthithu that I got to portray my ideologies. Sattapadi Kutram will be one such project. I also got a similar opportunity in Vengayam, a film based on Periyars ideologies, in which I have a cameo, he says.

Quiz the actor if he is worried that he will face competition from his own films and he quips, Since, I am not playing the lead, I dont see it in that light. All my characters are performance-oriented and the audience will see in me in a different light in every film.
