Sanjjanaa to star in Renigunta remake
It’s been more than a year and a half since the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Renigunta was announced. At the time, Srikanth of Olave Mandara fame was believed to be in the lead, and the film was titled Anekere Beedi. In the time since, a lot has changed.
For starters, the film is now called Mandya to Mumbai and has Rakesh Adiga in the lead. And now we hear that Sanjjanaa has been roped in to play an important role in the film — that of the heroine’s elder sister, who takes the story forward.

Interestingly, this film will mark Sanjjanaa’s second outing in a deglam role, after her Mahanadi. “Despite my best efforts, my look in Mahanadi was considered too glamorous for a woman from the coastal belt. So for Mandya to Mumbai, in which my character hails from a slum, I am not only going makeup-free and sari-clad, but am also looking at darkening my skin tone to get the look right,” says Sanjjanaa, who is currently shooting for the film.
