Sandalwood Film Nagar: Closer to reality now

Finally, Sandalwood actors and technicians will have a place to call their own. On Thursday, April 25, the bhoomi pooja ceremony of the proposed Sandalwood Film Nagar near Tavarekere will be held.
The sprawling 98-acre plot, which will house this ambitious project, has been made possible through the efforts of four dynamic producers — A Ganesh, Praveen Kumar, Ba Ma Harish and Mahadev.There are as many as 1300 sites earmarked in this area, and many of them have already been swapped up by Sandalwood celebrities. The project will have parks, college, lake, and many other public amenities. Kannada film personalities who have, reportedly, reserved their sites include Raghavendra Rajkumar, Yogesh, Karisubbu, and others.
Interestingly, the price at which these sites are being offered are same for filmstars and technicians. The idea behind this massive project is that the Sandalwood family should stay as one in a place that is exclusively theirs. This should be a welcome development for the industry where many do not own homes, and even producers who cough up crore for their films, sometimes do not have their own dwellings.
Located just 22 km from Bangalore’s city centre, anyone related to the film industry in the state can register a place/site with an initial booking amount of 50k. This project already has approvals in place, like the one from the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA). On April 24, the industry will gather to pay their respects to Dr Rajkumar on the occasion of his birth anniversary. And the next day, they’ll be all there for the pooja ceremony.
