Samyuktha Hegde to debut in Tamil films

fame Samyuktha Hegde is all set to make her Tamil debut. The Bengaluru girl’s name was doing the rounds for several Tamil projects, but she has eventually been confirmed for Puppy, an entertainer directed by debutant Nattu Dev. The film has Varun in the lead, with Samyuktha playing his love interest. “I have been getting offers from the Tamil industry for a while, but I wasn’t convinced with whatever I got. But when Puppy came my way, I was glad. It has a great storyline and I am dog lover. Also, I knew some people from the production house. It was easier for me to trust and work with people whom I know here,” says Samyuktha.

The interesting bit about the film is that a dog will be one of the leads in the film. Nattu gives us more details. “The film talks about relationships today, pre-marital sex and dog breeding. Of course, all these tracks will be seamlessly woven into a single story, which revolves around a happy-go-lucky boy, who doesn’t take life seriously. He meets a girl in

and their relationships blossoms in Chennai. They bond over food. Over the course of time, they get into conflicts,” he says.
On the dog’s role, Nattu adds, “The dog’s character is, in fact, crucial for the protagonist’s transformation. Like us humans, the dog also has a certain character in the film. The emotional connect for the protagonists with the dog is very high in this film.”

Ask him about the inspiration and he says, “I am a dog lover. I have seen dog breeding and some incidents left an impact on me. And pre-marital sex is something that is common these days. The film won’t be preachy and will be narrated in an entertaining manner.”

This is Nattu’s debut project. “I started off as an actor in 2011. I have done four films and worked as an assistant director in

Kaaka Muttai

. I also directed a couple of short films with the themes of social awareness. Eventually, I decided to make my directorial debut,” says Nattu.
