Saloni Aswani is Upendra’s heroine

Dandupalya maker Srinivasa Raju’s next directorial Basavanna has been known to be a two-heroine project. While Ragini Dwivedi was signed up very early on for one of the roles, the director had told us that he was looking for a girl with very traditional Brahmin looks. And it seems that his search has come to an end. Saloni Aswani, who has earlier worked with Upendra on films like Buddhivanta and Dubai Babu, will star in Basavanna.
The actress, who has been busy with films in Tollywood, says that it was Upendra’s call to her that made her take up the project. “I share a comfort level with Upendra after having worked with him in two films. He called and asked for my dates. Since I had time to spare, I took up the film,” she says.
Saloni adds that she is aware of Ragini’s presence in the film. “But the fact is that I am paired opposite Upendra and that is what matters to me,” says the actress, who will join the team next week for their Europe schedule.
