Roopika opts out of Tulu debut

By her own admission, Sandalwood actress Roopika was most excited to do her first Tulu film. But now news comes in that the lass who was pencilled in for a role in he upcoming Rickshaw Driver is no more in the project. While sources say it was over remuneration issues, the film's producer Praveen Kumar Konchadi says the actress opted out of the movie because of personal reasons.
"Her brother's wedding is fast approaching and she couldn't spare dates. We're in the process of shooting day and night to release the film in March and are not in a position to wait for her. We understand her predicament and bear no ill will towards her," says Praveen. An advance of Rs 25,000 is still with Roopika but the producer hasn't asked her to return it. "We have replaced Roopika with a Mumbai-based girl," sums up Praveen.
