When a Sandalwood cinephile hears the words Katha Sangama, one is reminded of the doyen
Puttanna Kanagal and his anthology of films.
Rishab Shetty’s Katha Sangama is a tribute to Puttanna, for which he has converted seven stories into an anthology of short films. The first story, which featured him alongside
Hariprriya, has already been canned, we hear. “I would be the main director of the anthology, which will also be my debut production, but I will have seven different people directing each of the stories.
Each film will have different technicians and teams, and we are planning to have the most promising young talent. For instance, we have Venkatesh Anguraj, who has already filmed the first one. We have
Karm Chawla and Arvind Kashyap, among others, as part of the other films. For music, we have names like B Ajaneesh Loknath, Vasuki Vaibhav and
Charan Raj on board. While we have stories for the films ready, we plan on beginning shooting for them by the month end. We are looking at a December release. The idea is simple — we want short, crisp entertaining films of around 20 minutes that will ensure variety too,” says Rishab.
