After the massive success of 'Kantara,' the makers are all set to return with the sequel of the film, 'Kantara: Chapter 1,' which will revolve around the beginnings of the worshipped deities, Panjurli Daiva and Guliga Daiva, taking inspiration from ancient mythology.
According to an IANS report, the makers have hired over 500 skilled fighters to ensure its grandeur. The film is set during the Kadamba period in Karnataka, a time known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The Kadambas were influential rulers who shaped the architecture and culture of the region, marking a golden era in Indian history. The film will explore this significant period while continuing the story introduced in the original 'Kantara,' which was released in 2022.
Rishab Shetty, who stars in a dual role as a Kambala champion and a forest officer, is not only leading the cast but has also undergone extensive training for the action sequences. He has mastered various skills, including horse riding and Kalaripayattu, to authentically portray his character.
The war sequence is being choreographed by renowned action expert Todor Lazarov, known for his work on major films like 'RRR.'. His expertise will help craft an action-packed scene.
The production team is also collaborating with international specialists to elevate the visual experience further.
The 2022 film won a national award and also became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of all time.
The film has been caught in a controversy regarding complaints from locals about potential wildlife disruption. Karnataka's Forest Department has initiated a probe into these allegations, but production continues. The film is set to be released on October 2, 2025.
