Raghu Mukherjee and wife Anu are now honorary ambassadors of Bannerghatta National Park

The couple will adopt an animal shortly to lead by example

Sandalwood couple Raghu Mukherjee and Anu Prabhakar Mukherjee has been appointed honorary brand ambassadors of

Bannerghatta National Park

to educate people about animal adoption schemes and how donations from the public can help it overcome its current financial crisis.

“We share a good rapport with the Chief Conservator of Forest of Bengaluru, Gokul. When he approached us with the idea, we accepted it gladly. Like humans, animals housed in zoos are going through testing times in the pandemic as revenues have dried up due to no footfalls to the park, which is a self-sustained institute. Zoos rely on revenue from ticket collections to feed animals and pay salaries to over 350 employees. Bannerghatta requires at least Rs 1 crore per month for maintenance. As honorary ambassadors, we request people to donate money to save Bannerghatta from its current financial crunch. The money that people donate will also be used to carry out research activities,” explains Raghu.

He further adds that they will soon adopt an animal from the

Zoo

to lead by example. “Bannerghatta is located close to Bengaluru and needs to be popularized; we are collaborating with officials to figure out an action plan,”
