Raam Reddy: Delhi and St Stephen's shaped me as a filmmaker

This year's national award-winning Kannada film 'Thithi's director Raam Reddy, an alumnus of St Stephen's College, was in Delhi recently to attend a film festival. During the visit, he shared his memories of Delhi with us. Raam said, "I studied Economics at Stephen's, but yes, I was from the sports quota and got bored after one year. But anyway, I finished my course.My DU experiences come from basketball. Because of the tournaments, I used to visit different colleges, and that's when I got to know DU; apart from that I used to be in my own world."
The 27-year-old director said, "It was Delhi that shaped me as an artist and as a filmmaker. In my college days, I used to write poetry, go to places to click pictures and it was more of a hobby which developed into passion. Then, I also started to write, and Stephen's helped me here because it has an intellectual writing culture and it pushed me towards writing. I started writing in my second year, and self-published my book, Raining In Maya, by end of my college term. The story of my book is inspired from my experiences of living in Malka Ganj area where I used to put up. I come from an urban set-up and I had no clue that trivial things could lead to conflicts as well, and that experience helped me while making Thithi, which is a rural story."
