producer C Jayaram

, who has made some memorable films especially in the 1980s, is no more. He passed away in the early hours of last night due to age related complications. Jayaram is the father of noted Kannada filmmaker Prakash of

Milana

and Taarak fame. The family held the last rites at the Sumanahalli cemetary today at 12 noon.

Jayaram had produced some superhit films in the 1970s and 80s. Among the films that he had made included the 1976 film

Pavana Ganga

, which starred Srinath and Aarathi in lead roles. He also has produced other films that include

Galaate Samsara

and

Naa Ninna Bidalare

that both starred Anant Nag, as well as Auto Raja, which remains a cult classic and starred Shankar Nag in the lead role.

He returned to the film industry after over a decade's hiatus in 2000s to launch his son Prakash as a filmmaker. He presented his first two films, which were Khushi and Rishi. Prakash has since gone on to become one of the most noted filmmakers, especially with his blockbuster film Milana, which led him to be popularly known in the film industry as

Milana Prakash

. He has since made the hit film Taarak that starred Darshan. He is slated to collaborate with Darshan again for a political action drama, which he had announced prior to the pandemic.

Many members from the film industry called on Jayaram's family to express their condolences and paid their tribute to him for his legacy in the film industry.
