Priyanka Upendra’s next role is just out of this world

Priyanka Upendra wears an amulet on the sets of Kamaro 2 and, on the insistence of her kids, showers before she heads back home after the shooting.

Well, that’s understandable considering she’s playing a paranormal investigator, in keeping with her commitment towards essaying varied roles.

“This is the second in the series of the franchise planned by director Paramesh A and his original, titled

Kamarottu Checkpost

, in the horror/thriller genre, did well. This flick is called Kamaro 2 and even though it doesn’t take off from where the first ended, a few characters from that film will be in this project too. My character is a new addition and I play a paranormal investigator called Sara Trivedi, who hails from

North India

. She speaks a smattering of Kannada and also, Hindi and English,” shares Priyanka.

Priyanka’s character has studied abroad and in keeping with that image, her western outfits are styled by Shwetha Harish. “I wear coloured lens, sport streaked hair and use sophisticated instruments in my cases,” she says.

What’s also interesting is that Priyanka’s part draws inspiration from a real-life paranormal investigator,

Gaurav Trivedi

, and

Lorraine Warren

of The

Conjuring

.

“Gaurav was a popular Indian personality in the paranormal arena and died under mysterious circumstances. We have taken inspiration from him and even on the set, original ghost meters are used,” she says.

So, how much of a believer is she in paranormal occurrences? “I am a complete believer. I feel you should not delve into that world without understanding its workings, says Priyanka.

Apart from wearing an amulet and showering before entering home, “We always do a puja after wrapping such scenes,” shares Priyanka.

Kamaro 2 also sees Raghavendra Rajkumar, Swamy and Rajani Bharadwaj in prominent roles. Prajwal Gowda, who assisted on KGF and

Salaar

, is the director of photography.
