Priyanka Upendra has slid into the role of a government school teacher in Miss Nandini effortlessly and the first look has been shared with BT. “Of late, varied roles have come to me and I feel fortunate. Miss Nandini was a title that was catchy from the word go and the script only went on to affirm my belief,” shares Priyanka, who has taken on such a role for the first time in her two-decade career.
The film, which is being directed by
Gurudatta S R, will mostly be shot in Coorg and deals with the disparities between private and government schools.
“And I try to find new ways to bridge that gap,” says Priyanka.
Elaborating on her part, the actor says that she is gritty and extremely strong-willed. “Yet, there is a soft side to her when she deals with the kids, though she is firm about what she wants. And that makes her popular with the children,” points out Priyanka.
As for her look in the film, it was based on her idea. “I wanted to keep it as simple and basic as possible. I did away with glasses because it has become a staple with such roles. Instead, I chose to focus on how she wears her watch, the way she does her hair. It had to convey that she doesn’t tolerate any nonsense,” says Priyanka.
Ravichandran will release the poster of the film today and the film is expected to go on the floors on October 16.
