Their first question was why we wanted to do a biopic on K M Cariappa. We said his life was inspirational and we wanted to bring it alive on the silver screen to motivate youngsters. They also gave us a book penned by K C Cariappa which traces K M Cariappa’s journey. I have started reading it to get into the skin of the character.”
“It is a huge responsibility to essay such a legendary character, but I am confident of doing justice to the role,” Prem said.
The team also visited the samadhi of K M Cariappa and paid their respects.
Director Raghavendra said the movie would be a tribute to Indian soldiers. “Even the family want the sacrifices of all who laid down their lives for the country to be included, even a foot soldier’s,” Raghavendra said. “There are several other characters like first Chief of Army Staff of the Indian army, K S Rajendra Sinhji, and first Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army, Ayub Khan, who need to be highlighted.” Important British characters will be portrayed by Hollywood actors, Raghavendra said, adding that they even have Hollywood technicians on board.
