The distributor claims that he does not want to have anything to do with films anymore. Businessman-turned-film distributor N Prasads biggest claim to fame was when he took on the Rajkumar family over issues regarding issuing the distribution rights of their home production
Anna Bond. Prasad, who at the time had been in the business of film distribution for less than a year, was widely criticized for speaking against Sandalwoods most revered film family.
And the man, who invested heavily on films like
Chingari,
Godfather, and
Bheema Theeradalli, among others, is now calling it quits to focus on his stock market business.
Yes, I am now focused on the improvement of my business in stock market. I think this was my core competence platform which I missed out on in the last twelve months. I have cut myself off from all my commitments in upcoming films like
Rajni Kantha and
Chandra now by making some adjustment, Prasad was quoted as telling an entertainment portal.
According to industry insiders, N Prasad lost a lot of money on the films that he picked up for distribution, but for the exception of
Only Vishnuvardhana and
Alemari. While he did not wish to quantify his loss, Prasad admitted that his outing in the film business was far from favourable.
As a distributor, I was fully involved in promoting the film I had picked up. But some of the producers whom I had contacted were more interested in securing themselves than securing the film. Even good films will not run when theres no intention to promote it, he added.
