Pradeep Varma debuts as director with Gulaabi Street
The upcoming Kannada film Gulaabi Street is creating a lot of buzz since it was announced as it deals with women centric subject. Now, the news doing the rounds is that the movie will be directed by debutant Pradeep Varma. Pradeep is the son of well-known painter BKS Varma. Pradeep started his career as a short filmmaker before venturing into full-length feature film.

He has directed the 45-minute short film Chakori. The film will see three actresses doing the lead roles in the film. Reports say actresses Harshika Poonacha, Shwetha Pandit and Bhavana Rao have been signed for the film.
"The Kannada film industry is opening up to new age and out of the box storylines, and that makes this the right time to work on a film like this," says Bhavana. "A lot of research has gone into studying, analyzing and portraying real incidents that have occurred in Mumbai and West Bengal," adds Shwetha.
