It has happened before and there seems to be no end to this menace. The audio songs of Prem's upcoming film Maley (rain) has been leaked on the Internet. The team was planning to release the audio of the film in a public function to be held in Hassan next week. But recently, the songs have been uploaded on the Internet by unknown persons which has sent the film crew into a tizzy.
Producer
R Chandru is now gearing up to send consignments of the film's official audio CDs to the market. However, the official digital release on various platforms could take days. Speaking to Mirror, Chandru, said, "Everything for this film was planned to the minute detail and this happens. A few friends called to say the songs were good. I felt proud and happy, but wait! That is when I realized something was wrong. Now we are speeding up the official release. More than a function, it is the question of making the songs available on all platforms and in stores as soon as possible. While sending physical CDs to shops can be speeded up to an extent, the availability of online platforms will be tricky. We cannot make it look like we are favouring one over the other. This will send wrong signals. We are doing our best." There are strange ways in which film contents get leaked. A few months ago, choreographer-turned-director Imran Sardaria lost his mobile phone only to realize a few days later that the trailer of his film Endendiguwhich was in the phone made its way to Youtube. There is also a growing superstition in the industry that when the contents of the film are unofficially leaked on the net, the film becomes a hit. This started with the leak of a portion of the Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi. The Pawan Kalyan-starrer, however, went on to become the biggest hit of his career. However, it is the rights holder who suffers. In this case, the audio rights of Maley were purchased by Anand Audio for Rs 14 lakh, which is a ten-fold increase from leading man Nenapirali Prem's previous film. Shyam Chabria of Anand Audio said, "Online market is the big thing now compared to physical sales. People prefer songs on pen drives and mobile phones than CDs. The illegal unofficial market is very huge and when the songs are good it hits investors very hard. It is not good for anybody doing business."Maley stars Nenapirali Prem and Amulya, sharing screen space for the first time. The film has five songs with music composed by Jassie Gift.
