Padavi Poorva celebrates tenderness of the 90s, says Ravi Shamanur

Most films celebrate school and degree life, yet few delve into the tender teens of pre-university days. We wanted to show and celebra“My son dreamt of becoming a hero. Inspired by films, he took all kinds of classes to guide him to essay a hero’s role. I would silently note the changes in my son every time he watched a film. I then understood the power of cinema on young minds. So, when it was the time for his debut, I wanted to be involved, and create something entertaining and educational for teens. Pre-university days are defining. I hope this film sparks seriousness among students,” Ravi shares.

The youth-centric film is set in 1996. “The 90s were the best era. Students lived in the moment, and were not all consumed by social media. We also thought that this era would be more relatable to young adults, while showcasing what life was back then to today’s teens who are so attached to mobile phones, and consumed by social media! The film celebrates life, teenage love, friendships of the 90s and more,” Ravi adds.

Padavi Poorva, a college caper, stars Ravi’s son Prithvi Shamanur, a debutant, and newbies Anjali Anish and Yasha Shivakumar in pivotal roles, and it is jointly produced by Ravi Shamanur films and Yogaraj Bhat cinema.
Ravi, who was a college lecturer before, says most of the characters are based on the students he would meet and interact with.
