Kannada film Onadanondu
Kaladalli Obba Raja Idda
has added another feather to it’s cap as the movie has been named in the India Book of Records.
In the movie Yogesh Master essays 24 characters. The project is a theatrical adaptation extracted from
Ekavyakthi Pradarshanagalu
. The work is based on
Rabindranath Tagore’s Once There Was a King.
The press release states, “The record for directing a feature film with maximum character enactment was set by
Santhosh Kodenkeri (born on November 30, 1980) of
Dakshina Kannada
,
Karnataka. The Kannada feature film ‘Ondanondu Kaladalli Obba Raja idda’, based on the story ‘Once There Was a King’ by Rabindranath Tagore, is 116 minutes and 39 seconds long and has Yogesh Master playing 24 characters. 13 technicians had worked on the film which has received many national and international awards."
It is the story of a grandmother narrating a story to her seven-year-old grandchild, Rubey, involving a king and queen. A small boy slips into an imaginary world while experiencing the story. He imagines himself as a king, a boy, and how the queen waits for the king to grow up as they were married at a tender age and ends up disappointed for not getting an opportunity to live with him.
The movie which has got censored in October was screened at international film festivals like
Mokkho International Film Festival
, International Motion Picture Festival of India, Dehradun International Film Festival and International Open Film Festival, winning several awards.
Jeevan Gowda
is the cinematographer and Yogesh Master has the penned lyrics, dialogues and composed music for the film.
