Two months ago, photos of Diganth running `nude' in the film Parapancha was leaked. But it turned out to be a planned marketing ploy and Diganth was found to be wearing a skintoned shorts. After the PK poster controversy, it was turn of actor Shobraj. His photos from the new Prem-directed DK showed him in the get-up of a nude mantrik with only a skull covering his private parts. But this, too, turned out to be a fake attempt. However, Naveen Krishna has beaten all of them hands down. However, there is no nude scene in the original play. Director of the film Dayal Padmanabhan said, “The play is 45 minutes long. If I make a feature film, it has to be at least 160 minutes long. We have not added unnecessary or additional scenes. But there are some descriptions in the play that I have turned into visuals.“ Asked about such visuals passing the Censor test, Dayal said, “Nudity per se is not objected to by the Censor Board. How you portray it and its necessity to the narrative is important. “ “This particular scene highlights the lack of privacy of a prisoner. It is not there just for the sake of it.“
Naveen Krishna, who has also written the dialogues for the film, said, “It is for the subject and not for promotion. I told the director that I would be ready for frontal nudity as well if it was necessary. I play a prisoner who has to do his every day chores in one place in front of everyone around. This scene is integral to the story.“
