Nassar and Ramesh Aravind to share screen space for the first time

Here’s the latest addition to the cast of

Shivaji Surathkal 2

, which seems to be getting bigger and more interesting every week. Tamil actor Nassar will play the senior Surathkal, sharing screen space for the first time with lead actor Ramesh Aravind.

Director Akash Srivatsa says, "Ramesh sir has known Nassar for about 20-25 years. Both of them were introduced by K Balachander, but they’ve never shared space on screen. This will be the first time they will be acting together, although Ramesh sir has directed him previously in

Uthama Villain

. This makes it special for all of us."

Talking about the film and the characters, Akash adds, "Shivaji Surathkal 2 is all about Surathkal meets Surathkal. We are introduced to Shivaji's father,

Vijendra Surathkal

, who was hidden in the first part. Nassar plays this character. He was not shown in the first film because

Shivaji

and his father share a dysfunctional relationship. The concept of Shivaji Surathkal 2 is to get to meet the two Surathkals. These are two strong characters, both having different perspectives towards life."

There are many interesting attributes to Nassar's character. "Vijendra is a powerful man, who is a retired police officer. The father and son are not on talking terms. We get to know the reasons for this by travelling back in time. They have different ideologies because of the different generations they come from. I feel most people will connect with this as everyone has seen this clash of perspectives with their fathers at some point or the other," shares Akash.

The team has finished a major chunk of Nassar's portions and Akash is thrilled. "There are a few more portions left, which will come in the flashback portions. Nassar sir will also be seen in two different looks. The reason we chose him is he’ll be seen in a trim and fit look in the 50s as the IG of the police department. The other will be him seen as slightly older. It has been a fantastic working experience. His approach to the character has been interesting. Even though he is from Tamil Nadu, he has researched about Surathkal and Mangalureans. He has also contributed towards establishing the speaking style and body language," he reveals.
