My Siddi co-actors picked up the steps with ease: Aahan

The dance track Indu Mama from the Kannada film Devasasya is now a social media favourite, because of its folk-inspired beats and colourful moves, rooted in the Siddi community.

Sung by Anthony Daasan and choreographed by Darshini Delta Nagaraj, the number showcases the Siddi community’s language blend of Kannada, Hindi, and Konkani, and their authentic dance & outfits.

Aahan, one of the film’s leads, recalled that the song was shot in a short period. “We had just two days to shoot this song on set, without rehearsals. But, my Siddi co-actors, most of whom weren’t professional dancers, picked up the steps instantly,” he said.
Directed by Karthik Bhat, Devasasya is slated for release next year.
