While actor Dheeren’s father
Ramkumar, the heartthrob of the 90s, was well known for his soft-boy, boy-next-door roles, the son is not too keen on following his father’s footsteps.
“I think I have done enough romance in my first film, Shiva 143. I am more of an action hero and my uncle’s (
Puneeth Rajkumar) words have only helped me channel my focus on that. I love binge-watching thrillers, murder mysteries and horror.
Also, I think the equations were completely different when my dad was making films. It was more of a soft era. Things have changed a lot now. As actors, we must evaluate every aspect before making a decision, than just blindly thinking about following a ‘legacy’. I am just one-film old and right now, I want to take up roles that help me connect with the audience. I want to play relatable roles. My focus right now is on anchoring my innings,” he says.
