MMA an important skill: Anjali Anish

Young actor Anjali Anish, who made her Sandalwood debut with the movie Padavi Poorva, has been training in MMA (mixed martial arts). “I was doing a regular workout regime, which had become very monotonous and tedious. So, when I decided to break out of it, MMA immediately caught my attention. I have been training for six months now, starting with basic movements. I figure it’s a lot like dancing. MMA makes my body feel tighter and helps tone it. At the end of it, I feel more refreshed and energised,” she says.

She also feels that self-defence is an important skill to have. “Women should know how to counter unpredictable challenges. MMA skills can come in handy there,” she says.
Focus on filmsAnjali, who just completed her law studies, will now solely concentrate on films. “My family always prioritised education. It makes you confident and helps with decision-making. It was tough to balance studying and acting. Now I am free to do what I love,” she says, adding that she is in talks regarding roles in Tamil and Malayalam projects. “I have a couple of Kannada films in the pipeline too,” she concludes.
