Meghna Raj, who is on a signing spree in Tamil, gets talking to TOI about her forthcoming projects...Her Kadhal Solla Vanden might not have raked in the moolah at the box office and her Krishnaleelai might be yet to see the light of the day, but that has not deterred actress Meghna Raj from signing a series of films. I am working on three Tamil films now Kalla Sirippazhagu opposite Shakkthi, Uyarthiru 420 with Snehan and Nanda Nandita opposite Hemachandran, starts off the dusky damsel.
Elaborating on her role in the films, Meghna says, While in Uyarthiru.., I play a stylish consultant, in Nanda Nandita, I play a middle-class girl who has a lot of responsibilities. She falls in love with a rowdy. And in Kalla Sirippazhaga, my role is that of a medical student. All three characters are different from each other and Im glad that Ive been able to experiment so much, right at the beginning of my career.
Meghna is also testing waters in Gods Own Country with Raghuvinte Swantham Rasia. In the film, I play an extremely rich Muslim girl who falls in love with a Hindu boy. I have also done a film with Mammootty sir. He is a fascinating actor and working with him was a dream come true. It was also a great learning experience.
Her maiden release in Tamil (Kadhal Solla Vandaen) did not send the cash registers ringing. But did that upset the actress? Though the film did not really set the box office on fire, I received a great response from everyone for it. At the end of the day, its all in the audiences hands, she clarifies.
Being the daughter of veteran actors Sundar Raj and Pramila, is there additional pressure on Meghna to make it big in the industry? True! As Ive got this tag of being the daughter of a star couple, people are expecting a lot from me. I am working really hard to get better and better! I get acting tips from my parents almost every day. They give me creative inputs all the time and whenever I face the camera, they come in handy. And yes, Id like to experiment with different characters in all my forthcoming films, concludes Meghna.
