Matinee idol Rajkumar stands 14.5 foot tall

A 14.5-foot-tall bronze statue of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar was unveiled at South End Circle, Jayanagar, on Thursday. Built by CJ Nagaraj Achar, the sculpture was inspired by the actor's role in Kannada film Kasturi Nivasa. In the high court, meanwhile, a PIL challenging the statue’s installation was dismissed.
The court said it cannot sit in judgment over BBMP’s decision.Wanting to know why petitioner Ashok Kumar is opposed to the installation, Chief Justice DH Waghela asked, “You don’t like Dr Rajkumar?” The petitioner retorted that he’s a huge fan of the thespian but the installation doesn’t amount to developmental activity."
