Married female artistes are finally getting their due: Priya Mani

It’s been an eventful year for Priya Mani. Having teamed with Shah Rukh Khan for the second time in the recent Jawan has been a dream outing for the actor. She is currently busy with the sequel of Bhamakalapam.

Acknowledging the changing tide for women in the industry, she says, “Unlike the yesteryear heroines, the current generation, especially senior actors, is not relegated to sister-in-law roles. In fact, it was my husband (Mustufa Raj) who asked me to not sit at home after marriage. As for those who wish to take a break, it’s an individual choice.” She puts her foot down when onscreen intimacy is concerned, exclaiming. “Except for one Telugu film in the mid 2000s, I haven’t kissed on screen. It’s not that my family or husband have laid rules, but this is entirely my decision because I’m not comfortable doing it,” she states. Priya, who considers her husband her lucky charm, is currently working on Maidaan with Ajay Devgn and another flick with Sangeet Sivan.
