Kannada film industry’s action queen Malashree gets set to set the screen on fire once again this Friday, albeit this time around, she’s working for another banner apart from her own after 14 years. “
Garshane is a commercial crime thriller and, in terms of competence in this industry, there is nobody other than Malashree who can carry off a role like this.
A lot of people suggested that I cast a male actor in the lead role. But I chose Malashree because of her onscreen image and the kind of fan following she continues to have. However, it is a quite different from all the regular action films she has done till now. Here, she plays an undercover cop who unearths a scandal that involves voyeurs of live sex — commonly called peep shows,” explains director
Dayal Padmanabhan.
Interestingly, the film also marks Dayal’s first attempt at a full-fledged commercial venture. “It falls under the genre of films like
Sunil Kumar Desai’s Utkarsha and such others,” reveals Dayal.
