Making dreams come true

...thats what artiste Sriranjani seems to be doing. She tells TOI about the one dream thats yet to come true
Making dreams come true
Actress Sriranjani has reason to be happy.
The homely character artiste, who has just finished playing her part in KT Kunjumons comeback vehicle, Kadhalukku Maranamillai, has three more projects in the pipeline. Yes! Im quite busy these days. I have signed Kandha Kottai and Appavi in Tamil and Mahesh Babus Varudu in Telugu, she says excitedly.
Disclosing details about her maiden project with K T Kunjumon, Sriranjani says, It was a great experience working with a leading producer like K T sir.

I play the heros mother in the film. I play a widow who faces hardship to bring up her son. Its not the usual weeping-and-sniffing mothers role. Theres ample scope for performance. Debutant Tejas plays my son.
But doesnt she feel shes being typecast as a mother or sister? Not really! After all, every role is different from the other. A hero also plays the lead in every film, but his character is different in each movie. Its the same with character artistes too,she explains and adds, I never wanted to become a heroine or even take up acting, for that matter. Films just happened. There is only one dream of mine that is yet to come true I have a fascination for off-beat films but I really havent got a chance to act in one. Meaningful cinema attracts me like a magnet.
The responsible mother that she is on-screen, is Sriranjani the same off it as well? Yes, she beams, The only difference is that I dont have my make-up on! She continues, I live in a joint family and being a daughter-in-law, wife and mother at the same time is a big responsibility. Before coming to the sets everyday, I have to help my children get ready to go to school and take care of my husband until he leaves for his office and then cater to the other needs at home. In fact, it is when I am shooting that I feel I am on a holiday.
So, what next? I have no big ambitions. I dont plan anything and take life as it comes.
