It’s only been a week since it released, but audiences and the industry seem to have turned their focus solely on Kannada film Maanikya. The Sudeep- and V Ravichandaran-starrer, also directed by
Sudeep, has apparently broken all records as far as the box office here is concerned. “The numbers speak for themselves,” says an elated Sudeep, adding, “The audience is appreciating the effort that has gone into the film and I am glad that the amount of detailing we have stressed on is paying off.” Industry stalwarts talk about the film:
DARSHAN: Maanikya is the Kannada film industry’s answer to the high standard of filmmaking across industries.
I totally enjoyed watching Ravi sir’s settled acting. It is a total entertainer, and you can see the kind of hard work that Sudeep has put in.
AMBAREESH: From direction, choice of location, the way the songs are picturized and how the characters have been presented... it is superb. I enjoyed the dialogues.
SUMALATHA AMBAREESH: Even though Sudeep is the lead actor in a film that he has also directed, each and every character has been presented really well. It was also wonderful to see Ravichandran in a role that he is doing for the very first time.
K MADESH: We’ve been treated to a mass film like this after a long time. Sudeep and Ravi sir together are a treat for any Kannada film lover. I particularly loved the action sequences that featured Sudeep; they’ve been shot exceptionally well.
NANDAKISHORE: Sudeep has reintroduced Ravichandaran to Kannada cinema with this film. For me, it scores 100 on 100 on the technical front, be it Shekar Chandra’s cinematography or Arjun Janya’s rerecording.
AP ARJUN: The film’s presentation and making is very rich and different, which is something that everyone immediately takes notice of. Sudeep has proved with this film that we’re no less than anyone when it comes to brilliance.
SOORAPPA BABU: I would particularly like to commend Sudeep for giving an excellent performance, despite having the producer and director tag, and having with a senior star like Ravichandaran acting in the film.
SHASHANK: The father-son combination and chemistry excite fans the most. Ravi sir’s getup, performance and looks was impressive. This is complete commercial cinema at its best, as it delivers action, emotions, visual grandeur and the right ensemble casting.
