Lyricist Viveka, who has his platter full with a number of projects, shares the details...When he was writing poems for his college magazine a few years ago, little did Viveka know that he would soon emerge as one of the most sought-after lyricists in Kollywood. And now, the lyricist is basking in the success of his works.
I have been in the industry for almost eight years now and have written more than 500 songs.
Im glad that most of them have become chartbusters too. When small children keep singing the numbers I have written, I feel on top of the world. I never really thought that I would enter the film industry. It was a chance meeting with SA Rajakumaran that fetched me the chance to write for Nee Varuvaai Ena. Since then, there has been no looking back, begins the young lyricist.
Viveka has now a plethora of projects in his kitty including Rowthiram, Singam Puli, Ko, Velayudham, Aravaan, Venghai and Vettai. For Joshua Sridhars forthcoming film,
Yuvan, Ive penned all the seven songs in the album in a day. Its a beautiful love story and when I completed the lyrics, I felt elated, he says.
Viveka considers Kanthasamy as the milestone in his career. Thats because I wrote the lyrics for all the songs in a film for the first time and all of them went on to become superhits. I also sang with Vikram sir for the title song. The whole experience was unique and special, he smiles.
Now that his counterparts like Pa Vijay and Snehan are testing new waters by turning actors, will Viveka follow suit? Not at all! You wont believe me, but I got a few offers to turn actor, but my heart lies in lyric-writing and thats what I want to do all my life. Im content with that, he concludes.
