Legal notice against makers of Smt Jai Lalitha
The makers of Kannada film Smt Jai Lalitha are in a fix, after a song from the yet-to-be-censored film made its way to the audience through visual media. The Central Board of Film Certification apparently sent a legal notice to the team, as well as the channel that screened the song.
Confirming the news, the board’s chief Regional Officer M Nagendra Swamy says, “The film has not been cleared by the board. When a film or song is not cleared, the makers cannot take the liberty of airing the same on a public medium. This is our attempt to ensure that the film industry makes good cinema, rather than thrive on double entendre dialogues and lyrics to up the film’s commercial value.”
When we contacted the film’s producer Arun, he said, “Yes, there was a lapse and the song was aired. While we got a warning, the matter was resolved amicably through talks. There are no problems with the Censor Board now.”
