Lack of prime time shows in multiplexes will affect Kannada films: Film producers

With as many as four big budget multi-language films releasing this weekend, Kannada film Kousalya Supraja Rama is in danger of losing prime time slots at multiplexes across Bengaluru, which has left the makers fuming. The makers have filed a complaint with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to resolve the issue.

Producers B C Patil and Shrusti Patil, inform us, “It’s appalling that a film, which is in its third week at the theatres and is continuing to get a tremendous response from people of all age groups, is not able to retain its shows in multiplexes. This shows that Kannada films are at the receiving end over screen allotment at multiplexes. We have approached the film chamber to intervene and solve the issue amicably so that Kannada films can reach the maximum number of audiences.”

Director and producer of the film, Shashank says, “Kousalya Supraja Rama is getting appreciation from family audiences, but the release of non-Kannada films across Karnataka at multiplex chains is preventing us from reaching wider audiences which is an unfair treatment meted out to Kannada cinema. The number of shows allotted to films of other languages even before they have released show that there is no value given to a local language film that has a steady audience.”

The film, which stars Darling Krishna, Brinda Acharya and Milana Nagaraj in lead roles has been made under the banner Shashank Cinemas and Kourava Production House.
