On the occasion of Gowri Habba, the team of the upcoming action thriller
Maarga
had a muhurtha, attended by none other than
Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar
and
J Karthik
. The film, to be directed by
debutant Mohan
, has
Chetan in the lead, along with
Kushee Ravi (of Dia fame) and
Reeshma Nanaiah, who is all set to be launched in Prem's Ek Love Ya.
Puneeth sounded the first clap of the film, and joined J Karthik for the puja during the muhurtha.
"Although this is director Mohan's first film, I have worked with him earlier on other projects that he was associated with and have known him for about seven years. He came to me about six months ago and gave me a basic narration of what he intended to work on, which intrigued me. He worked on it over the last six months and what drew me to the film was characterisation and use of technology in the story. Also, I tend to judge the progress of an industry or a film in particular by the portrayal of women. Films that are high on toxic masculinity, I have consistently rejected. Maarga, has two strong female characters, who are playful, but without undermining them. They also play a major part of in how the narrative unfolds," says Chetan.
The team, he adds, is looking at starting shooting by mid-September in and around Bengaluru, with a couple of days planned for an outstation schedule, provided all permissions come by.
