Kousalya Supraja Rama, which hits the screens today, marks the collaboration of director Shashank and Darling Krishna for the first time. The film also stars Brinda Acharya and Milana Nagaraj as female protagonists and is being made under the banner Shashank Cinemas and Kourava Production House.
Director Shashank, who considers Kousalya Supraja Rama his best work till date, says, “This film addresses male chauvinism which is a neglected issue in India. However, it is very relevant in today’s times and how women bear the brunt of it. This sole factor makes our film unique.”
He further adds, “Both Krishna and my strength lies in making youthful family entertainers, so it has helped in taking this film a notch higher. The content is very relatable; it’s not only the protagonist’s character, even the supporting cast will make an impact. We were looking for a fresh face, and Brinda Acharya perfectly fit the bill. Milana’s character has a lot of complexity and carries a surprise element. One may think these kinds of films are meant for OTT platforms; but this vibrant and colourful film will change the perception as we have also given emphasis on re-recording which gives that cinematic experience. The songs from the movie have topped music charts which is a positive sign.”

The whole story is woven around a mother and her son’s relationship. However, it is not your usual, cliched story. We have focused on the mother as a woman, first
